About Us
WELCOME TO RIVERVIEW CO-OP!

DEAR PARENTS,
Welcome to Riverview Co-op Preschool (a.k.a. Riverview Nursery, Inc.)!  This letter is to give you some details on a variety of topics regarding our school.  We hope you find the information helpful to you and your child.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Working parent or designee must work in classroom as an assistant teacher.  This is at least twice per month. Working parents are to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to class start time in order to help prepare for the day’s activities. FIA/Child abuse and neglect clearance is mandatory by the state of Michigan for any adult working in the classroom.

Working parents please expect to stay approximately 15-20 minutes after class to help clean up. Cleaning should be done after class, unless otherwise directed by the teacher.  (Your child may read or play quietly while you are setting up and cleaning up.)

Provide a healthy snack for the class about once each month.

Hold a job within the preschool.

Participate in one cabin clean up per child enrolled.  This takes approximately 3-4 hours and is usually on a Saturday morning.

Attend mandatory, monthly General Membership Meetings.  Meetings are held in the evenings and plan for 1 to 1-1/2 hours (no children please).

Participate in fundraising activities to raise a minimum profit per child of $145 or a tax-deductible donation may be made for the entire or portion of the minimum.  Of course, many families go on to raise additional funds, which are then added into our budget to purchase more for the school/students. Fundraising is a vital source of operating income for our preschool!!  Our teacher's salary, operating expenses, insurance, utilities and school supplies are all partially covered by fund-raising dollars.  We appreciate and are very thankful for everything we receive and want to THANK ALL OF OUR FAMILIES FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT!

CLASSROOM RULES
Please discuss the classroom rules with your child before our first day of school.  They are posted in our room and will be referred to often throughout the school year.

                GIVE ME FIVE

  1. Be Respectful.  (Be kind to others.)
  2. Be a Friend to Everyone.  (We will feel good about ourselves.)
  3. Always Use Your Words.  (Others need to know how you feel or what you are asking.)
  4. Respect All Property.  (By taking care of things in our classroom {putting things away after you have used them}, they will be there the next time you want them.)
  5. Have Fun at School!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Each month you will receive a Calendar of Events along with the Wee Chatter Newsletter.  These will highlight our themes for the month and school activities to include Special Events, Field Trips, and Your Scheduled Classroom Work Days.  A daily lesson plan will be posted on the bulletin board in the preschool.  Your child’s birthday will be scheduled on the school day closest to his/her actual birth date.  It will be that parent’s responsibility to provide snack for the day.  (Parents of children with summer birthdays can celebrate them during the school year.  Please check with the Teacher and/or Scheduler.)

DISMISSAL
Your child will be ready to leave when you arrive at the preschool.  (11:20 a.m. for the 3-year-olds and 11:50 a.m. for the 4-year-olds.)  Please be punctual.  If an emergency occurs and you will not be on time, please phone the school at 734-284-1966.  Also, it is extremely important that any other person to whom your child may be released is listed on your emergency card.  Make sure that person has a picture I.D. with him/her when he/she picks up your child.

FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are parent and child special events.  They will be listed on your monthly calendar.  Transportation is each individual parent’s responsibility.  Other arrangements may be made for your child to attend.  If this situation occurs, it is the responsibility of the parent to contact your Field Trip Coordinator to inform him/her of the arrangements made, prior to the event.
